As soon as Dong Nai Province implemented Directive 16 on social distancing, many students of the Faculty of Business Administration and International Economics at Lac Hong University were “stranded” and unable to return to their hometowns in time. In addition to developing plans for teaching and learning during the pandemic, the Faculty promptly implemented measures to support students facing difficulties in their daily lives.
Under the close guidance and direction of the Dean, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tân, and Ms. Tạ Thị Thanh Hương, M.A. – Head of Department, homeroom lecturers/academic advisors conducted surveys among students in their classes as well as other students of the Faculty who remained in Bien Hoa during the lockdown. The results showed: “According to student feedback, many had run out of food and essential supplies because they were unable to go outside, and their financial resources had been exhausted due to prolonged isolation.” Therefore, from July 19 to July 20, 2021, the lecturers mobilized support from alumni, current students, and faculty members themselves.
On July 21, 2021, with the support of volunteers from the University Youth Union Office, the Faculty provided assistance to 36 students with 36 gift packages valued at approximately VND 450,000 per package. Each package included:
1 carton of instant noodles (mobilized by students of class 19QT112),
1 bag of 5 kg rice (mobilized by alumni),
1 bottle of honey (donated by student Đức Huỳnh, class 19QT112),
In addition, the Dean, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tân, personally gave each student an envelope containing VND 100,000.
In addition to distributing essential goods, the Dean personally delivered gifts to the students, offering encouragement and reminding them to strictly follow the 5K principles to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This support program does not stop here and will continue in the coming time to help students feel secure and well-prepared for the upcoming semester examinations.
